WHAT IS ductless split system?

     A split system consists of two parts – an outdoor compressor and one or more than one indoor air outlet units.

     

     "Ductless" means that the split system air conditioners rely on a set of pipes instead of ducts to connect the outdoor compressor to the inside unit.

     Besides keeping your home warm in the winter or cool in the summer, it also provides protection from allergens and pollutants year round. 

WHAT'S BTU?

hOW MUCH DO I NEED?

     BTU stands for the British thermal unit. It is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit.

Here is an approximate sizing guide:

  • 250 square feet = 6000 BTU

  • 350 square feet = 9,000 BTU

  • 500 square feet = 12,000 BTU

  • 750 square feet = 18,000 BTU

  • 1000 square feet = 24,000 BTU

  • 1250 square feet = 30,000 BTU

  • 1500 square feet = 36,000 BTU

* Some Asian countries use 匹 instead of BTU. 1 匹 = 8000 BTU  

Why it can SAVE MONEY?

     Ductless cooling and heating systems can save 30-40 % off the energy costs of a forced air system. They are the go-to choice for newly constructed houses and additions, as well as those houses with no existing ductwork and which rely upon radiator or electric baseboard heating.

     Zone-based Cooling and Heating Split-ductless systems can use up to eight separate indoor air-handling units for each outdoor unit. In this way, you can have eight separate rooms or zones, each with its own controller. You can save a lot of money by sending less heat into lesser-used areas of your home. For larger homes, you might consider purchasing two ductless multi-room outdoor units in order to boost your indoor cooling and heating to the entire house. The extra costs will be more than compensated for through eventual energy savings.
